A Direct Journey to Paradise
Flying direct from Auckland with Air New Zealand made the journey seamless and stress-free—an ideal start to any island getaway. Melissa chose to split her time between the tranquil charm of Sanur and the lively energy of Seminyak, offering a taste of both serenity and excitement.
Serenity in Sanur – The Meru Experience

The second half of Melissa’s trip took her into the vibrant heart of Bali: Seminyak. Her base was Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach, an effortlessly stylish resort that captures the island’s creative soul. Situated on one of Bali’s most iconic coastlines, this hotel blends casual sophistication with cultural charm.
Early one morning, Melissa joined a local-led bike tour through Seminyak’s backstreets—a brilliant way to see a different side of the area before the streets filled with life. From there, she explored further afield with a private driver, visiting Uluwatu Temple, perched dramatically 70 metres above the sea. The temple is a spectacular sunset spot, and Melissa recommends timing your visit to catch the 4pm fire dance performance—a cultural spectacle that truly shouldn’t be missed. Just be sure to watch your sunglasses—the cheeky monkeys have a habit of “borrowing” them!
Dining & Shopping in Style
Melissa was particularly impressed by the dining scene in Bali. With a little research and some savvy pre-booking from New Zealand, she secured tables at some of the island’s most sought-after restaurants. Her verdict? “Exceptional—and a must for anyone visiting Bali.”
